Gas Grills
Gas barbeque grills are among the most popular types of barbeque grills. Gas grills come in all shapes and sizes. Portable gas grills are great for camping or going to the beach for an impromptu outdoor meal.
Among the most popular types of gas grills are:
- Jenn Air® gas grills
- Perfect Flame® gas grills
- Phoenix® gas grills
- Pinnacle® gas grills
- Sears Kenmore® gas grills.
Gas grills' ratings can be found on a number of different Web sites or in gas grills consumer reports.
Prices of different gas grills will vary depending on the brand name, size, shape and abilities of the particular gas barbeque grill. Side burners, rotisseries and other extra features can be convenient and useful but may make a gas grill's price rise.
Gas grills also come in different materials. Less expensive grills are typically made of cast aluminum, while higher quality gas grills are often made of stainless steel. Stainless steel models generally last longer and are more durable. These models will cost a bit more, but they usually also include a longer and more thorough warranty, so the extra cost can be worthwhile.
Before you decide on buying a gas grill, it's worthwhile to shop around. In addition to hardware stores and department stores, you can find great deals on gas barbeque grills online and in specialty grill stores.
When deciding whether or not to buy a basic gas barbeque, consider what you will cook on your grill and how often it will be used. If you plan on having a basic backyard barbeque once a month, then a basic model is probably sufficient. If you plan to use your grill frequently for complicated cuisine, then it will be more to your advantage to invest in a higher quality model with more features.
Advantages of Gas Barbeque Grills
About 68 percent of people prefer to use gas grills over any other type of grill. Here are just a few of the reasons that gas grills are preferred:
- Gas grills are convenient and less messy than charcoal grills.
- Gas grills can usually be lit at the push of a button.
- Propane tanks on gas grills are long-lasting and can generally keep going for about 20 hours.
- The heat from a gas grill is steady, consistent and easy to adjust.
However, this is not to say that gas grills are superior in all areas.
Disadvantages of Gas Barbeque Grills
While gas barbeque grills do have many advantages over other grill types, there are also a few drawbacks to using gas grills. These include:
- Gas grills provide less flavor than other types of grills. Unlike charcoal and wood, gas does not add flavor to grilled food.
- It is much more difficult to smoke foods on a gas grill.
Extra Features of Gas Grills
In addition to rotisseries and side burners, gas grills can include a number of other useful features. The most popular extra features on gas barbeque grills include:
- a built-in thermometer or gas gauge
- a drip pan that's easy to remove and clean
- side tables for extra workspace (some can even be folded down to conserve space when not in use)
- two separate heat zones.
